Four remarkable individuals who carry within them the passion, ethic, discipline and timeless honor of being a Cadet have been selected for the 2008 Class of the Hall of Fame.
Alan Chez, Dr. Joseph Cinzio, Jeff Sacktig and David Welch will be inducted into the Hall on July 5th during the Cadets home show, Music In Motion, in Clifton, N.J. The four winners were chosen among a field of 13 extraordinary individuals, all of which have contributed to the corps in countless capacities.
Cadets Hall of Fame Committee Chairman Eric Santo announced the Class of 2008 on Sunday, May 25th during An Evening with the Cadets held at Springfield High School in Springfield, Pa. Their recognition comes after nearly of month of voting by the Cadets Alumni Association which began on May 1. The process wrapped up on May 23rd as ballots were cast to select nominees for the highest honor in the Cadets' organization.
Al Chez - Member from 1978-1982, Staff 1983, 1997-2001, 2004
Chez was nominated by Tom Breen with letters of support from Drew Shanefield, James Mallen and Eric Santo. He is currently a member of the CBS Orchestra performing with the Late Night with David Letterman show.
Dr. Joseph Cinzio Administrator from 1966-1976, Director 1977-1978
Cinzio was nominated by his son and former Cadet Greg Cinzio. His name is a legacy to the Cadets, not only in his professional and personal contributions, but also in the family members who continued their paths as members who wore the Maroon and Gold.
Jeff Sacktig - Member 1986-1989, Staff 1990-1991, 1993-2001, 2003-present
Sacktig was nominated by Scott Tomlin with letters of support offered by Mike Fanning, Brian Fay and Nicole Roach. Sacktig was a marching member of the corps, an integral part of the visual team and now enters his 13th year as the corps' drill designer.
David Welch - Member 1984-1987
Welch was nominated by Chantal Weedman with letters of support offered by Doug Rutherford, Patrick Zampetti and Dave Shaw. Welch, known and loved by generations of Cadets, has provided an amazing example to all within the family that those philosophies taught while in the corps can be used well beyond the years of wearing the uniform.
The Cadets Hall of Fame began with the Class of 1984 induction of honorees and is now the highest honor for 28 individuals who have left a mark in the Cadets' legacy. The Hall of Fame Committee began its work in December seeking nominations for this year's class.
"It's an honor to welcome these four individuals to Hall. We were thrilled will all the nominations all 13 of them! Every single person in their own unique and generous way has contributed to the excellence of the Cadets," said Director George Hopkins.
